Accent Tolerance

Accent Tolerance:

Accents are a natural part of spoken language, and every person has an accent. Accents and dialects are intimately tied to identity and community.

Tolerance for  different accents  allows us to recognize challenges of different languages and to strive to improve upon those challenges and make communication freely . Understanding is the ability to walk in other people’s shoes and to comprehend their needs, perspectives, and desires.

More than tolerance, acceptance, and understanding it’s phonemic awareness of not only the same language with its accents but also the accents and dialects of other languages. Speaking perfect standard languages is wonderful, but it won’t fit for everyone, especially those who have accents in the same language. Even native speakers will speak differently. That is why when communicating, flexibility in speech sound is more important than standard or perfect speech sound. Worrying about accuracy will hinder your communication. Paying too much attention to others’ accents also will distract your comprehension and communication. That’s the reason why accent tolerance  (phonemic awareness) is important when you acquire and learn other languages as well as communicating in the same language with different accents and in other languages. The flexible IPT system comes in to help language learners and polyglots learn more languages.Of course if you can speak different languages with perfect pronunciation without any accent so much the better.

However if you find and enjoy the variety of speech sounds of different languages it will make your life easier.
